Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask about the directory, how we stay honest, and the realities of pulling data from LinkedIn.
What is LinkedInScraper.com?+
It is an independent, regularly updated directory of tools for getting data out of LinkedIn: open-source repositories, Apify actors, and commercial APIs. We track 18 tools today, 5 of them open source, and compare them on ban risk, what they extract, pricing, and maintenance.
Do you scrape LinkedIn yourselves?+
No. We do not run a scraper and we do not sell one. We map the ecosystem so you can choose the right tool without wading through biased "top 10" posts.
How do you make money?+
Some outbound links to commercial tools are affiliate links, so we may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. The site is free to use and we never charge readers.
Do affiliate commissions affect your rankings?+
No. Rankings and ratings are editorial. Whether a tool pays us a commission has zero effect on its position, its ban-risk rating, or its pros and cons. Free and no-commission tools sit right beside the paid ones and often rank above them.
How do you keep the listings accurate?+
For open-source tools we pull live data from the GitHub API: stars, last commit date, license, and archive status, refreshed automatically, and we flag repos that have gone stale. Human-entered fields like pricing carry a "last verified" date on each tool page.
Is scraping LinkedIn legal?+
It depends on your jurisdiction, the data involved, and LinkedIn's Terms of Service, which change over time. Nothing on this site is legal advice. Our guide on whether LinkedIn scraping is legal is a good place to start, and consult a lawyer if you are unsure.
Which tool is safest for my LinkedIn account?+
The biggest risk is any tool that runs through your own LinkedIn login, since that is where account bans come from. Tools that work via official APIs or their own infrastructure, rather than your session, are generally lower risk. Use our Find your scraper quiz to shortlist low-risk options for your use case.
Can a scraper get my LinkedIn account banned?+
Yes. Tools that automate actions through your personal account can trigger restrictions or a permanent ban. We label the ban risk on every tool so you can weigh it before you start. Read our guide on how to avoid a LinkedIn ban for practical precautions.
How do I get a tool listed or report something out of date?+
Email us through the contact page. Corrections and new tool suggestions are the most useful messages we get, and we aim to fix listings quickly.
Are you affiliated with LinkedIn?+
No. LinkedInScraper.com is an independent information resource and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn Corporation. "LinkedIn" is a trademark of its owner.
